SpeedTester Terms of Use
Version: production-20261015-01. Published and effective: 15 October 2026.
1. Operator and service
SpeedTester is operated by Edson Angelo Carara, an individual using the CararaLab brand, at https://speedtester.cararalab.com.br. Support, privacy requests and disputes: fale.conosco@cararalab.com.br.
The service receives measurements from authorized installations to build community comparisons of internet connections. This initial release provides accounts, acceptance, pairing, credentials and authenticated ingestion. Public dashboards, rankings and any future awards will become available as implemented and after their methodology is published; these terms do not announce that those features are already available.
2. Participation and acceptance
By joining, you state that you are at least 18 and authorized to use the equipment and connection. Use your own account and provide accurate information. Authentication uses the providers actually available in the portal; Google, Meta or X availability is not guaranteed.
Signing in does not authorize measurements. Contribution requires express acceptance of these terms, confirmation that you read the privacy policy, and specific contribution authorization, without preselected checkboxes. The server records your account, session, document versions and hashes, language, and acceptance date/time. Acceptance in another environment is not automatically transferred.
Without current acceptance and active authorization, the server blocks credential renewal, new measurement authorizations and result ingestion. Mandatory changes require renewed acceptance. Account access to read documents and exercise your rights remains available.
3. Installation and connection information
Each client is paired with your account and receives credentials bound to its installation keys. Do not share tokens, passwords or keys. Check the code and fingerprint before approving an installation and revoke it if you suspect compromise.
Accurately provide operator, country, region, city, plan where requested, access technology — fiber, coaxial, radio, satellite, cellular, DSL or other — and whether the measured link is Ethernet/wired or Wi-Fi. Do not provide an exact home address or other people's data. Profile corrections apply to new versions and do not rewrite previous measurements.
4. Measurements and resource use
Download, upload, latency, jitter, loss and other supported tests consume resources and may use data allowances or temporarily affect other connection activity. Review configuration, limits, costs and permission to use the connection before activating the client.
The community client must obtain valid server authorization before each attempt, respect its limits and use only permitted targets. Installation or pairing alone does not authorize unlimited execution. Communication failures may leave results pending in the local queue; the server rechecks authorization and documents when receiving them.
5. Integrity and abuse prevention
Observations are stored separately by metric, with units, method, time and status. An unavailable metric is not converted into zero. Original measurement values have no manual editing feature; justified corrections and deletions follow separate procedures and applicable rights.
Fabricated results, other people's data, ranking manipulation, improper credential sharing, authorization reuse, limit evasion and attacks are prohibited. Signatures, hashes and receipts help detect alterations and bind records, but do not independently prove a measurement's physical truth or prevent every fraud on participant-controlled equipment.
CararaLab may revoke tokens or installations, suspend access and exclude results from comparisons for abuse, fraud, compromise or security risks. Revocation blocks renewal and ingestion once effective; a test already running on remote equipment may finish without its result being accepted. Request reasons and review through the stated contact, subject to protection of others and security mechanisms.
6. Comparisons and possible awards
Contribution authorizes use of measurements for the purposes described in the policy, including statistics and possible awards. Only aggregates assessed for identification risk may be published. Accounts, email addresses, IP addresses, tokens, installation identifiers and exact residential locations will not be disclosed as public results.
Comparisons must state period, sample, method, technology and link type; rankings and awards will have criteria published before release. Voluntary samples, Wi-Fi, plan, equipment, time and target affect results. Targets outside confirmed control will be identified accordingly. SpeedTester does not certify an SLA or independently establish that an operator caused a failure. Insufficient data cannot support conclusions about an entire region or operator.
7. Control, responsibilities and closure
You can pause the client, revoke an installation and withdraw contribution authorization through the portal. Withdrawal blocks new authorizations and ingestion but does not automatically erase history. For access, correction, deletion or account closure, contact fale.conosco@cararalab.com.br. The policy explains how these requests are handled.
The service may undergo maintenance or become unavailable. You are responsible for permission to use the connection and the accuracy of declared information; CararaLab is responsible for its operational and data-protection obligations. These terms do not waive statutory rights or responsibilities.
SpeedTester Client code remains governed by the license published in its repository. These terms govern the central service and do not remove rights granted by that license. Brazilian law and applicable jurisdiction rules apply, preserving participant rights.
8. Languages and changes
Documents are available in Portuguese and English. Both translations form one version whose hash is recorded on acceptance; the viewed language is also recorded. Report discrepancies to the operator; where interpretation conflicts, the Portuguese wording guides the assessment without limiting legal rights. Material changes receive a new version and require renewed acceptance before contribution resumes.
